Learn Everyday Makeup in English: Live Classes in Hanoi & HCMC
By the Vietnam Makeup Artist team · 2026-11-06
We offer 1-to-1 makeup lessons in English at Cáo MakeUp for everyday looks—foundation selection, colour matching for your undertone, brow shaping, and techniques that survive Hanoi's heat and Ho Chi Minh City's humidity. Each session is personalised: you work with a senior makeup artist, learn on your own skin, and take home the exact method and product types that work for you. Sessions run 2–3 hours; ask us for a quote on WhatsApp. We serve international clients, mixed skin tones, and mature skin with equal care. The focus is practical: what you can do yourself every morning, with products that won't melt or separate by midday.
Everyday makeup in Vietnam demands a different skill set than makeup elsewhere. Heat, humidity, and strong tropical sunlight expose every technical fault—foundation separation, eyeshadow creasing, lips fading by lunch. Learning in English, with a makeup artist who understands your skin and climate, closes the gap between "I tried YouTube tutorials" and "I have a routine that works."

Why English-language lessons matter for everyday makeup?
Most YouTube makeup tutorials are filmed in temperate studios and assume dry skin or cool climates. You apply their technique, and by 2 p.m. your foundation has slipped into your pores; your eyeshadow has creased into a line; your powder has turned to mud. Learning from a makeup artist who lives and works in Vietnam—and teaches in English—means every step is tested against the actual conditions you'll face. We show you product types, layer order, and primer use that keep makeup stable for 12+ hours in heat and humidity. Your technique changes; your product choice changes; your routine becomes automatic.

Which skin undertones need custom colour matching?
Undertone matching is the most visible failure in everyday makeup—wrong concealer shade, mismatched powder, lipstick that clashes with your skin instead of enhancing it. Western tutorials often assume cool or neutral undertones; many Vietnamese, mixed-heritage, and mature skin tones sit warmer, deeper, or more olive. During a 1-to-1 session, we hold swatches and shades against your skin in natural light, test them over primer, and show you the difference between a "close enough" match and a true undertone match. This is not abstract—you see it on your own face, in real time. Correct undertone matching makes every other step easier and your makeup look intentional rather than applied.
What happens during a typical makeup lesson session?
A lesson begins with a skin assessment: texture, tone, sensitivity, and your current routine. We discuss your daily schedule (how long makeup needs to last), your skill level, and your makeup goals—do you want a no-makeup makeup look, defined brows, or a polished finish? Then we demo each step on you while you watch and ask questions. You then replicate the step on yourself, with guidance. We correct hand position, brush pressure, and product amount in real time. By the end, you've practised foundation, concealer, powder, brows, and eye look (or whatever focus you've chosen). You leave with written notes, product recommendations by type (not brand names you can't find here), and the confidence to repeat it alone.
How do you keep makeup from melting in tropical heat?
Heat damage happens in layers: primer failure, foundation breakdown, powder clumping, then separation. The solution is not one product—it's a sequence. A hydrating primer goes down first (not silicone-heavy; hydrating primers perform better in humidity). Foundation goes on thin, in sections, set immediately with powder before moving to the next section. Powder is pressed, not swept; each area is locked before the next. A setting spray (alcohol-free, hydrating type) goes on last and dries for 60 seconds. Cream blushes and liquid shadows outperform powder in heat—they don't travel or crack. Brows are set with a cream or gel product, not powder. We walk through this sequence and show you the exact technique differences that keep makeup intact from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What should you prepare before your first lesson?
Bring your current makeup (foundation, concealer, powder, brushes, anything you use). We'll test them, identify what's working and what's not, and explain why. Wear your normal skincare routine that morning—we teach makeup over the skin you'll actually prep every day. Choose a focus: brows, base, everyday eye look, or a complete face. If you have skin concerns (sensitivity, oiliness, dryness, rosacea), mention them when you book. Tell us your undertone if you know it (cool, warm, olive, or you're unsure). Wear clothes you don't mind product on; sometimes we test shades on your arm or neck. Come with realistic expectations—you won't be a pro after one session, but you'll have a method that works and the confidence to refine it.
| Lesson Type | Best For | Focus | Length | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brow & base | First-time learners | Foundation, concealer, brows | 2 hours | Everyday routine you can repeat solo |
| Complete face | Intermediate skill | Base + eyes + lips | 3 hours | Polished look for work or social events |
| Colour & undertone | Unsure of shade | Concealer, powder, blush match | 1.5 hours | Correct undertone guide, product recs |
| Mature skin focus | 40+ skin types | Texture-friendly technique, longevity | 2.5 hours | Age-friendly method, no caking or creasing |

What to check before you book a lesson?
Timing: Ask how long the session is and whether it includes a written takeaway (notes, product list, shade recommendations). Confirm the time of day—morning light is best for colour matching.
Skin fit: Tell us your skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive) and any active concerns. Some techniques change for acne-prone or very dry skin.
Product access: Ask whether the artist recommends products available in Vietnam or international brands. Vietnam has good pharmacy brands and imported lines; know which you can actually buy after the lesson.
Follow-up: Does the lesson include one check-in message if you get stuck at home? Some artists offer a free quick video call if you have questions within a week.
Language: Confirm the artist speaks fluent English and won't switch to Vietnamese if explanations get detailed. This matters when learning technique nuances.
Location: We teach at studios in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, or at your hotel by request. Ask about travel time if you're not central; heat affects makeup, so the faster the better.
We also offer specialised makeup for every skin type—including rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and mature texture—if your lesson focuses on a specific concern. If you're preparing for an event, event and party makeup lessons show you looks that photograph well and last through dancing and air conditioning. And if you're planning a wedding or elopement, 1-to-1 makeup classes can include bridal-specific techniques like long-wearing eye design and heat-proof lip colour for your ceremony.

FAQ
Can I learn everyday makeup if I've never worn makeup before?
Yes. We start with skin prep, primer, and foundation—the absolute foundations. We move slowly, explain every step, and you practise on yourself immediately. No prior skill is needed.
How long do the techniques we learn actually last in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City heat?
With the sequence we teach (primer + thin foundation + powder in sections + setting spray), 10–12 hours without touch-ups is normal. Brows and base hold longest; lips may need a refresh after eating.
Will the lesson work for my undertone if I'm mixed-race or very deep-toned?
Yes. We match colour by holding swatches directly to your skin in natural light and testing over primer. Undertone matching works the same way for every skin depth; the shade range is just wider for deeper tones.
What if I want to learn makeup but only have 1 hour, not 2 or 3?
One hour is too short for a useful lesson. We recommend 1.5 hours minimum for brows and base, 2 hours for a full face. Ask us for a quote on WhatsApp if you have a tight schedule.
Do I need to buy specific products after the lesson, or can I use what I already own?
We recommend product types and undertone shades; you can often use what you own if it matches your undertone and skin type. We explain which of your current products work and which you might swap out.
Can lessons include makeup for events, or is it only everyday makeup?
Everyday makeup is the focus of these lessons. If you want event or bridal makeup, we offer photoshoot and event makeup and bridal makeup services. Lessons can be tailored to either.
Is the lesson in English, and will the artist explain terms I don't know?
All lessons are in English. We explain terms simply and always show, not just tell—you see the technique on your face first.
